Top 5 Beaches in Nha Trang, Vietnam

After braving the hustle and bustle of cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh, a beach escape is well-deserved for any travel. While Vietnam boasts roughly 2,025 miles of coastline, the beautiful beaches located near Nha Trang have a particularly special charm.

Commonly referred to as the ‘Riviera of the South China Sea’, Nha Trang sees sunshine almost all year round. The rays combined with 80 degree weather and little wind make it an ideal beach getaway. If the white sand and turquoise waters aren’t enough to draw you in, the nightlife scene certainly will. Amidst the pristine coastline are a multitude of resorts, restaurants, islands, and shops, giving the inland area of Nha Trang a fun, cosmopolitan vibe.

Whether you’re looking for some R&R or a rowdy trip with your friends, these five beaches in Nha Trang will help you find exactly what you’re looking for.

1. Tran Phu Beach

Best for: Travelers who want to be close to the action

As the closest beach from the city, Tran Phu Brach is easily the most popular beach in Nha Trang. Lined with resorts, boutiques, restaurants, and bars, Tran Phu is a public beach widely known for its nightlife scene. If raging until all hours of the morning isn’t your thing, you can also take up surfing, snorkeling, yoga, meditation, and other outdoor activities. Beach loungers can also be rented for as little as $2.

2. Bai Tru Beach

Best for: Families

This postcard-perfect oasis is located on an island connected to Nha Trang via the world’s longest sea cable car. The island can also be reached by boat-taxi or car.

Primarily known for the Vinpearl Land amusement park and aquarium, the quaint island is home to Bai Tru beach. As a much calmer alternative to Tran Phu, this beach is perfect for families. After spending some time enjoying the attractions at Vinpearl and wandering around the intriguing aquarium, you can relax on the beach or even hire a motorboat to drive you around the neighboring islands and coastline.

3. Bai Dai Beach

Best for: Beach bums

Located roughly 17 miles south of Nha Trang, the quiet, laid-back vibes on Bai Dai beach makes for a perfect day trip. Prior to 2018, there were few accommodation options, but there are currently plans for dozens of new hotels and resorts to be built in the area.

The shallow water is perfect for swimming or, if you’re looking for an adrenaline rush, jet skis, surfboards, rafts, and kayaks can be rented from local shops. Be sure to check out one of the many seafood shacks lined along the beach for some of the freshest seafood in the area.

4. Nhu Tien Beach

Best for: Luxury travelers

This privately owned beach will seem a world away from the noise of Nha Trang. A haven for anyone looking to relax and rejuvenate, the serenity found in Nhu Tien can’t be compared to any other beach in the area.

If you happen to need anything throughout the day, the Diamond Bay Resort and Spa is the main resort located on the beach and offers free shuttles to Nha Trang. As you can imagine, Nhu Tien is much less populated than the other local beaches, which only adds to the tranquility of the landscape.

5. Hon Chong Beach

Best for: Relaxation

A quick, five-minute drive will land you on the rugged coastline of Hon Chong beach. A much quieter alternative to Tran Phu beach, this beach is brimming with natural beauty in every direction. The calm waters and palm trees make a popular spot for locals, but not so much for tourists. The off-the-beaten path beach offers an array of coffee shops and cafes close by. Visitors can also go scuba diving, surfing, or snorkeling here.
